The hotter-than-normal summer has created challenges for local producers.
It’s been a case of all hands on deck as winemakers harvest the fruit and prepare to create their 2017 vintages.

Australia’s largest country music festival is celebrating 10 years and it’s right on the doorstep of the Scenic Rim.
CMC Rocks QLD rolls into the Willowbank Raceway from March 24 to 26.
The festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a stellar line-up of country music legends, including the Dixie Chicks and Little Big Town.
Camping onsite at Willowbank is nearly sold out, but don’t worry there are still plenty of great accommodation options here in the Scenic Rim.
AUTUMN BIRD WEEK
O’Reilly’s Bird Week takes flight
Join fellow bird lovers for O’Reilly’s Autumn Bird Week, from March 5 to 10.
The cooler autumn weather means you’ll have a chance to see migratory species before they leave the World Heritage-listed Lamington National Park. The National Park is home to Australia’s largest collection of subtropical birds, 500 waterfalls and 160km of nature trails.

Meet breeders and learn more about keeping chooks in a series of free talks.
All aspects of poultry keeping will be covered.
Birds will be available for purchase on the day, including Guinea Fowl and Quail. The Club is located within the Beaudesert Showgrounds, about 40km south of Brisbane.

The highly-anticipated Darlington Community Market and Family Fun Day returns on Sunday March 26.
You’ll love the setting in the picturesque grounds of the Darlington State School in the Lost World Valley.
This is a stunning part of the Scenic Rim and a wonderful place to give your kids a relaxed day out in the countryside.
The markets have a ‘homemade, homegrown, handmade, local, organic and Fairtrade’ theme, which means you’ll only find unique and fresh offerings at these markets.
Competing for a great cause
The popular Chappy Challenge returns on March 4.
The annual event offers participants the opportunity to cycle, run or walk through the beautiful Fassifern Valley and support the great work school chaplains do in the district.
Runs and rides offer the diversity to cater for children, fun runners and serious athletes. The event has become a popular highlight on the local calendar and supports the chaplains who visit schools in the region.
WOMEN ON WHEELS
Riding into QLD Moto Park
Join the Women on Wheels on March 12 for their ride to celebrate QLD Women’s Week. The group will be ride to the Queensland Moto Park, located just outside Boonah.
